Automotive Sales: 48,948 Units Sold by End of April 2024
New car sales in Morocco reached 48,948 units during the first four months of 2024, representing a slight decline of 0.71% compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Moroccan Association of Automotive Importers (AIVAM).
In terms of segments, new registrations for passenger vehicles (PV) decreased by 3.08% to 43,647 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles (LCV) reached 5,301 units, marking a significant increase of 24.29%. These statistics were recently released by the association in its monthly report.
The "Dacia" brand dominates the PV segment with a market share of 27.5%, accounting for 12,004 new registrations as of the end of April. Renault follows with 6,333 units sold, representing a market share of 14.51%, and Hyundai with 3,629 units and a market share of 8.31%. In the LCV segment, Renault experienced a sales growth of 70.25% (1,505 units), capturing a market share of 28.39%, while Ford saw its sales rise by 101.38% to 729 units, representing a market share of 13.75%.
In the premium category, Audi achieved a market share of 3.3% with 1,440 cars sold, surpassing BMW (market share of 2.74% and 1,198 units) and Mercedes-Benz (market share of 2.24% and 976 units).
Porsche, on the other hand, sold 217 units by the end of April 2024, marking a year-on-year growth of 29.17%, while Jaguar experienced a slight decline in sales by 2.63% to 37 cars.
For the month of April 2024 alone, new car sales in Morocco increased by 6.28% to 13,268 units. The PV segment showed a growth of 5.57% with 11,906 cars sold, while the LCV segment saw a significant increase of 12.94% with 1,362 units sold.
