Moroccan Dark Comedy 'TRIPLE A' Set to Captivate Audiences Nationwide
Moroccan cinema enthusiasts are in for a treat this September as the highly anticipated film "TRIPLE A" prepares to grace screens across the country. Directed by the talented Jihane El Bahhar, this dark comedy-drama promises to challenge viewers' expectations and spark important conversations.
"TRIPLE A" is set to premiere in Moroccan theaters on September 11, marking the beginning of a national cinematic tour. The film, produced by "JE Films," tackles sensitive social issues with sharp wit and nuanced storytelling. At its core, the narrative weaves together three intersecting love stories, focusing on marginalized characters striving to pursue their dreams against all odds.
The star-studded cast features some of Morocco's finest actors, including Majdouline Idrissi, comedy sensation Aziz Dadas, and talented performers Hind Benjbara, Khalil Oubaqqa, Fatima Zahra Bennacer, and Abdelatif Chaouqi. This ensemble promises to deliver powerful performances that will resonate with audiences.
Director El Bahhar, collaborating with writer Nadia Kamali Marwazi, has crafted a unique cinematic experience that masterfully blends drama and dark comedy. Drawing inspiration from real-life characters and stories, the script is further enriched with poetic passages from Khalil Gibran's "The Prophet," adding depth and humanity to the narrative.
The production of "TRIPLE A" faced significant challenges, as filming took place during the COVID-19 lockdown. Despite these obstacles, the team persevered, delivering a high-quality film that has already garnered international acclaim. The movie's accolades include Best Foreign Film at the Soho International Film Festival in the U.S., the Audience Award at the Maghreb Film Festival in Haarlem, and the Jury Prize at the Naples International Film Festival.
El Bahhar, a rising star in Moroccan cinema, brings a wealth of experience to the project. Hailing from Casablanca, she has an extensive background in television writing and directing. Her 2006 debut short film "Shift+Supp" earned several awards, including Best Screenplay at the 8th International Beirut Film Festival.
As "TRIPLE A" prepares to make its nationwide debut, it stands as a testament to the resilience and creativity of Morocco's film industry. This thought-provoking dark comedy promises to offer audiences a fresh perspective on social issues while showcasing the talents of the country's vibrant cinematic community.
