Baccalaureate 2024: Success Rate Soars to 67.8%, an 8-Point Increase from 2023
In a remarkable achievement, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports has announced that the success rate for the 2023-2024 ordinary session of the baccalaureate examination has reached an impressive 67.8%, marking an 8-point increase compared to the previous year's 59.8%. This notable feat was accomplished by 245,881 students enrolled in both public and private institutions, with 143,366 of them being female students.
The announcement, made on Wednesday, followed the completion of deliberations across all regional academies of education and training. The figures reveal that a total of 362,848 enrolled candidates sat for the exams, representing a 97.4% participation rate, a significant increase from the previous year's 273,410 candidates and a 96.3% participation rate. Additionally, 74,556 independent candidates took the exams, with a 61.8% participation rate, resulting in 29,440 successful candidates, reflecting a 39.5% success rate.
The Ministry's report further highlights that 148,362 candidates, representing 54% of the total, achieved distinctions among both enrolled and independent candidates. The success rate for the international baccalaureate streams stood at an impressive 70.7%, while the professional baccalaureate streams achieved a commendable 64.2% success rate. Moreover, 1,024 candidates with disabilities, who benefited from adapted exams or special examination and correction conditions, achieved a remarkable 75.7% success rate.
This year's session was marked by several significant innovations, including the adoption of a secure computer system for transporting exam papers to regional academies' printing and distribution centers. Furthermore, the digitization of candidates' answer sheets ensured secure correction procedures before the lifting of anonymity. The Ministry will continue to issue digitized and secured diplomas and transcripts, with all candidates receiving their digital baccalaureate certificates from Wednesday, June 26, while paper versions will be available starting Thursday, June 27. Candidates received their results via SMS and email (taalim.ma) in the early hours of Wednesday.
Looking ahead, 147,317 candidates will sit for the resit session, scheduled for July 10, 11, 12, and 13, 2024, with the results to be announced on July 19, 2024.
